On September 25, the Lower Silesian Final of the School Athletics League for Lower Secondary Schools was held at the Olympic Stadium in Wrocław (nearly 500 participants). The event determined the champions of Lower Silesia and the representatives for the National Final, which will take place in June 2015 in Białystok. Among the winners were girls from Gimnazjum No. 2 in Zgorzelec, who decisively defeated the other teams and qualified for the Polish Championships.
The success confirmed the very good work being carried out at the school, as the girls finished second at the same competition last year, losing the battle for gold to a team from Wrocław by just one point. This year, however, they got their revenge, with the girls from Wrocław finishing second.
This is a historic moment: Gimnazjum No. 2 has qualified for nationwide competition for the first time. The team, coached by Michał Jaworski, consisted of: Paulina Zdanowicz, Martyna Fijałkowska, Evelyn Malec, Agnieszka Szczepuła, Wiktoria Sawicka, Klara Bieżuńska, Justyna Dacko, Aleksandra Slepczenko, Kornelia Grześkowiak, Karina Rydarowicz, Julita Jakiel, Karolina Fiałek, Wiktoria Nęcka, Wiktoria Raubo.
