The competition focuses on the broadly understood issues of spatial planning and development. It is organised by the Institute of Spatial Management and Housing and the Association of Polish Cities.

Bolesławiec received the title for its rational spatial policy, exceptional care for cultural heritage and the quality of public spaces, as well as for supporting residents’ participation in co-deciding on changes taking place in the spatial environment.

The competition results were announced during the 12th Congress of Polish Cities in Wejherowo. The honourable distinction for Bolesławiec was accepted by Marta Gęsikowska, acting head of the Spatial Management and Information Department at the City Hall.

“It is worth emphasising that an online service has been created in Bolesławiec, enabling broad cooperation with the public in the field of spatial development,” Marta Gęsikowska reports.

The scope of data available through the service makes it possible to obtain information about the progress of planning work, along with a preview of proposed planning solutions; review earlier local plans in force in the area covered by the plan amendment, as well as the current development; search for a given property to check whether planning procedures conducted in the city cover the plots belonging to the interested party; compare the provisions of the study of conditions and directions of spatial development for the City of Bolesławiec with the proposed development; and analyse the city’s social conditions. In addition, the service contains a register of local plans in force, application templates and basic information on spatial planning.
