As part of the organization of Mediation Day Week observances, on 13–17 October (during office hours), prosecutors will be designated at every regional prosecutor’s office in the Jelenia Góra district and at the District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra to be on duty and provide interested persons with information on the practical use of mediation.
Furthermore, the prosecutors on duty will also receive interested persons on Saturday, 18 October. Mediators will also be invited to take duty shifts.
Mediation makes it possible for victims and persons against whom criminal proceedings are being conducted to reconcile, as well as to ease the conflicts that often underlie such proceedings.
Its positive outcomes may help satisfy victims’ claims more quickly, reconcile the offender with the victim, and bring criminal cases to a swift conclusion.
The authority to refer a case to mediation at the judicial stage lies with the court, while during preparatory proceedings it lies with the prosecutor.
