The incident took place overnight from 27 to 28 September. At around 2:00 a.m., police officers from Kowary spotted a Peugeot on the road. The driver’s manner of driving suggested that he might be drunk. The officers wanted to stop him for a check. However, when the 18-year-old resident of one of the towns near Kowary noticed the police car, he stopped, got out of the Peugeot and began to flee.

He was detained after a short chase. As it turned out, and not without reason: he did not have a driving licence and was drunk. The test showed nearly 2 per mille of alcohol in his system.

Police established that the 18-year-old was driving a car that did not belong to him. The vehicle belonged to a resident of Mysłakowice. The detained teenager told officers that he had taken the car without the owner’s permission (the latter was at that time attending a party at a venue owned by the 18-year-old’s father). The victim only realised in the morning that his car was missing.

The teenager was taken into police custody. He could face up to five years in prison.
