A family picnic will be held on Saturday, 27 April, on the grounds of the School Complex in Janowice Wielkie. Between 1:00 and 2:30 p.m. you will be able to have your bicycle marked. Police officers will also distribute leaflets about road traffic regulations.
Objectives of the preventive programme “Stop – marked bicycle”:
- raising public awareness of the risks associated with bicycle theft and indicating ways to prevent such incidents
- systematising bicycle marking by standardising the marking method and code, and registering bicycles in a unified database
- facilitating the identification of stolen bicycles and the apprehension of those responsible for their theft
- identifying owners when a bicycle is recovered
- increasing bicycle owners’ sense of security.
When can you join the programme?
Like a car, a bicycle must be properly prepared by its owner so that it can travel safely on the road and not pose a threat to other road users. The bicycle must be visible and in good working order. It must be equipped with a working front light, rear light, brake and bell.
Jelenia Góra police officers have also prepared numerous games and competitions for children about safe behaviour on the road, exercises with the police mascot Commissioner Lion and— for adults—an educational and advice table where district officer Staff Sergeant Katarzyna Judzińska will provide advice.
