The municipal transport operator is organising events to mark Car-Free Day. The event, held under the honorary patronage of the Mayor of Legnica, will run from 10:00 to 16:00.
MPK employees will teach children how to use city buses safely and courteously. Attractions for Legnica residents will include presentations by motorised police patrols on motorcycles and in a patrol car, Municipal Police officers on bicycles, and fellow motorcyclists with their impressive machines.
Members of the Young Medics Club, operating at the Faculty of Health Sciences and Physical Culture of the Witelon State University of Applied Sciences, will organise first-aid demonstrations. The Ekorama–Legnica Cycling Tourism Association will promote a healthy lifestyle, recreational cycling and sightseeing. Cyclists will talk about their trips and show long-distance cycling equipment. The Bike–Centrum bicycle shop from Legnica will present cycling innovations.
Many attractions and competitions with prizes have been prepared for children and young people. At 11:00, prizes funded by bus manufacturer Solaris Bus&Coach will be presented to the winners of a children’s art competition entitled “A Safe and Courteous Journey by City Bus”.
For many years now, on Car-Free Day (22 September), Legnica drivers have been able to leave their cars in car parks and use MPK buses free of charge. All they need to have with them is a valid vehicle registration certificate and driving licence, which will serve instead of a ticket.
