Police officers from Rudna detained a 50-year-old resident of Polkowice County suspected of killing two young mute swans, which are protected in Poland.

According to the officers’ findings, the 50-year-old man went fishing with friends. A female swan was walking with her young near a pond in the Rudna municipality. At one point, the man, having lost interest in fishing, approached two of the young birds and then killed them. He took one dead cygnet with him and gave the other to a friend.

The man now faces up to two years in prison.
