Breaking the Guinness World Record for watching films will take place at the Atom cinema in Wrocław from 20 to 25 February. One hundred viewers will be isolated from the outside world for 115 hours. Films will be shown in several-hour blocks, divided by ten-minute breaks. Eight independent witnesses will take turns overseeing the proper course of the event.
A group of determined film enthusiasts who are willing to take on this exhausting challenge is currently being assembled. "We are ready to make any sacrifice to prove our devotion to our passion—film. We are aware of the risks: fainting, hallucinations, subsequent sleep disorders and permanent damage to the cerebral cortex," says Marcin Pawlik, one of the organizers of the record-breaking event. The organizers invite everyone who is not terrified by the possible consequences to take part in the undertaking.
The attempt to break the Guinness World Record for watching films non-stop in a cinema is being organized by the Wrofilm Film Association and the Szorty.pl Portal. The previous record belongs to a German cinema, where viewers watched films for more than 114 hours.
