During the ceremony, tribute was paid to those who fell and respect was shown to veterans, while awards were presented to individuals and institutions supporting veterans. The Zespół Szkół Rzemiosł Artystycznych in Jelenia Góra was honored for its service to the Association of Veterans and Former Political Prisoners and for its cooperation with the organization.
Marcin Zawiła, president of Jelenia Góra, said during the ceremony that there are no wars in the world that do not concern us, because even when military operations do not affect us directly, they influence the global situation. He gave the example of military operations in Ukraine, appealing to people to remember what is happening in our eastern neighbor’s country on the occasion of the anniversary of the outbreak of World War II.
