The ceremony took place at the Knights’ Academy. Among those attending were the mayor Tadeusz Krzakowski, Municipal Council chairman Jan Szynalski, representatives of Legnica’s services with which the Municipal Police cooperates, as well as companies and institutions.
“The Municipal Police was created for residents,” said commander Mirosław Giedrojć. “The work of an officer is difficult, full of tension and stress. People’s health and lives often depend on this work. It is a difficult profession, but at the same time a beautiful adventure.”
There are currently 53 people working in the Legnica Municipal Police, including six in civilian positions. Many of the officers are women who, as the mayor noted, also improve the image of the formation. One of them, Katarzyna Gmerek, won the “Panorama Legnicka” competition for the best municipal police officer, held under the patronage of the Mayor of Legnica. The next two places went to Justyna Janusz and Marcin Niewiadomski.
Mayor Tadeusz Krzakowski noted that working for the Municipal Police is very popular, as shown by the fact that as many as 40 candidates applied for one vacant position in the competition. “I appreciate your service,” the mayor said. “On behalf of the residents, I count greatly on your dedication and commitment. I wish all officers success in their professional work and personal lives.”
