The incident occurred at around 2:30 p.m. on the A4 motorway near Kogut (kilometre 65). The bus, bearing registration plates from Bolesławiec, hit the right barrier, bounced off it, crossed the road and hit the left barrier. None of the men traveling in the bus suffered serious injuries. A considerable traffic jam formed on the motorway in the direction of Bolesławiec.
