The popularity of dance—and in Bolesławiec’s case, Argentine tango—is reflected in the numbers. Once again, more than 60 people took part in both the workshops and the milonga, including more than 20 participants from the Czech Republic.
The second project class was led by a pair of instructors from Wrocław: Aleksandra and Tomasz Rutkowscy. The BOK dance hall was once again filled to capacity during classes for both the first and second groups. The traditional milonga in the lobby of BOK-MCC lasted until midnight, attended by Polish and Czech enthusiasts of Argentine tango.
The next project meeting took place on Saturday, August 2, and was led by instructors from Kraków: Katarzyna Czech and Tymoteusz Ley. As usual, the workshops were held with the Polish-Czech tango enthusiasts attending in excess of capacity.
The Kraków instructors leading the third workshop meeting are a popular pair of Argentine tango promoters, and Tymoteusz Ley is one of the originators of the “Dance—A Man’s Thing” campaign.
In his campaign, Tymoteusz argues that dance really is a man’s thing, that it is something masculine that impresses women and something one can boast about to one’s friends, just like a new motorcycle or photography equipment. Dance offers the opportunity to get to know oneself and develop continuously, teaches one how to approach and understand women, and provides an opportunity for self-expression. The instructor made the case for dance in an interview with the natemat.pl portal.
The next project meeting will take place after the summer break, on Saturday, September 27.
