Zgorzelec police officers detained a 32-year-old resident of Zgorzelec commune suspected of a series of thefts. Since the beginning of 2014, the man had stolen nearly 670 kg of copper cables from above-ground telecommunications lines. The losses were estimated at nearly PLN 12,000.
The 32-year-old burned the insulation off the stolen cables and sold them at scrap-metal collection points in the area. He now faces up to 5 years in prison.
