The event has been moved from autumn to the last Saturday of the summer holidays (30 August), and some of the attractions will take place in the Market Square. This is where the longest street in the city and a city model made from boxes, cartons and little boxes will be created. Every year, crowds attended the artistic and other Familiada sections. This time, too, the organizers are preparing for hundreds of participants. In addition to the City Hall, which organizes and finances the “Choose the Family” campaign, and the Art Gallery, which coordinates the whole event, Legnickie Centrum Kultury and Młodzieżowe Centrum Kultury will also be involved.
Instructors from MCK will lead art workshops, while LCK will provide musical entertainment, cartoon screenings, stilt walkers and zumba lessons. “We want to offer entertainment for entire families, from babies to great-grandparents, so we are preparing, for example, demonstrations of sporting activities such as parkour, climbing and zumba, which is popular with senior women. There will also be a toddler corner, where we invite parents with babies,” says Marta Grzesik from Legnicka Galeria Sztuki.
Every generation will find art activities for itself. Familiada will feature as many as 17 sections, including making jewellery from stones or felt, decoupage, painting on glass or T-shirts, ceramics, printmaking, origami and creating personal “albums with soul”.
As always, there will be balloons and face painting, gifts for participants and refreshments. The youngest visitors will be able to present their skills during a “talent show” (so those interested are asked to prepare for their performance). All of this will last five hours. The organizers encourage families to spend this time learning together through play.
This year’s Familiada will begin at 1:00 p.m. The organizers invite everyone interested to the Market Square and the courtyard of the Knight Academy. Admission is free.
