During the “Speed” operation carried out on Friday, 22 August, officers from the Zgorzelec traffic police stopped 69 drivers who had broken the law. Fifty-eight of them were issued fines. The record holder exceeded the speed limit by as much as 100 km/h.
The police remind drivers that excessive speed is one of the most common causes of road accidents, while seat belts are the most effective way to ensure safety while driving. Half of those killed in road accidents could still be alive if they had been wearing seat belts at the moment of the collision.
