A fuel station is to be built by the Tesco store in Bolesławiec. If the chain manages to complete the investment, a station offering cheaper fuel will open in the middle of the year. The opening of the fuel station at Tesco in Jelenia Góra led to a significant drop in prices at other stations there. Prices fell by more than 20 groszy per litre. Currently, the price of 95-octane petrol at the Lotos station in Jelenia Góra is PLN 3.69. Diesel costs the same as petrol there. For comparison, the prices of these fuels at the Lotos branch in Bolesławiec are PLN 3.93 and PLN 3.82, respectively.
It is no secret to drivers that the cheapest fuel is sold at stations belonging to hypermarket chains. Residents of Bolesławiec often refuel in Legnica at the Auchan hypermarket. In this way, the residents of our city save as much as 50 groszy per litre of fuel. As it turns out, fuel stations belonging to retail chains are the only competition capable of having a real impact on the prices offered at stations operated by PKN Orlen, the Lotos Group, Shell and BP. We wrote about this fact in the article “Fuel Prices Annoy Drivers” back in October 2004.
