The bicycles were handed over on Thursday afternoon in the courtyard of the Children’s Home on Kubika Street. The bicycles were funded by Shari Kermer, the owner of a company selling Bolesławiec pottery in the United States. “Ms Kermer decided that some of the money from pottery sales should return to Bolesławiec,” Andrzej Raszczuk, the organizer of the initiative, told Boleslawiec.org.
Shari Kermer allocated 3,000 euros for gifts for the children and young people from the Children’s Home. All the bicycles were purchased in Bolesławiec, at the Apanasewicz bicycle shop on Komuny Paryskiej Street. The shop owner selected the bicycles according to the ages of the Children’s Home residents. The young people also received protective helmets.
