“Cafe Tango: Polish-Czech Dance Workshops” is a project involving five workshop meetings held from June to October 2014. The partner of the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre in the “Cafe Tango” project is the city of Jablonec nad Nysą.

The workshops will be held at the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre–International Ceramics Centre in Bolesławiec. Classes have been divided into two groups: beginners and intermediate. After each workshop day, all participants will meet at a milonga, an open dance event well known in the Bolesławiec tango community.

– Tango is a very popular dance in Bolesławiec. This is the second Argentine tango workshop project, organised this time with a Czech partner. Around 40 participants from Poland and the Czech Republic will take part – says project coordinator Dariusz Usciński.

The instructors will include recognised promoters of Argentine tango in Poland, among them Paulina and Jan Woźniakowie (Warsaw), pioneers of the Polish tango school. They are the longest-serving tango teachers in Poland and were the first in the country to teach tango based on communication between partners, without predetermined choreography. The teaching staff will also include Aleksandra and Tomasz Rutkowscy (Wrocław), as well as Piotr Woźniak and Ida Zagrzejewska (Warsaw).

Applications for the project are accepted during the “Cafe Tango” association’s classes – every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 p.m. at the BOK-MCC dance studio. Classes will begin on 14 June. The project and related activities will be described on a specially created website.
