As part of expanding the range of part-time engineering degree programs, the local authorities of Bolesławiec have proposed establishing the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics. The Automation and Robotics degree program would operate within this faculty. For students, this would mean the opportunity to choose between two new specializations: Mechatronics or Robotics and Mechatronics. Another proposal by the city and county is to expand the existing offer of the Faculty of Materials Engineering and Ceramics to include a specialization in Construction Materials. Meanwhile, the Faculty of Geology, Geophysics and Environmental Protection would be expanded to include Geotourism.

The mayor and county head justify their proposal by pointing to the existing educational profiles at secondary schools in Bolesławiec. Similar programs at the secondary level are offered by the Electronic Technical School and the Mechanical Technical School. The new degree programs would make it easier for graduates of Bolesławiec secondary schools to continue their education. The mayor and county head hope that their proposal will be approved by the authorities of Akademia Górniczo-Hutnicza in Kraków.
