Greenery is an inseparable element of the landscape. It shapes space and emphasizes its character. It is essential for the proper functioning of the human body and helps maintain balance of the spirit and mind. Small, secluded gardens are places where one can find respite, solace and peace.
Various types of green spaces exist in the Polish-German border region. Created at different times and associated with distinct cultural and religious circles, they attract residents and tourists. They are showcases of individual towns and cities, but also a shared value of the entire cross-border area.
The exhibition “Parks and Gardens of the Polish-German Border Region” will be on display in Bolesławiec Market Square for another week. It presents the green spaces of Bolesławiec as well as the parks and gardens of the German border region. The exhibition—and the publication issued under the same title—contains photographs resulting from joint meetings of Polish and German communities organized in Bolesławiec and in the border area of Germany.
The exhibition and publication, created as part of the project “The Architecture of Urban Greenery in the Cross-Border Area Through the Lens,” showcase the uniqueness of corners of Polish and German cities and towns. They reveal the beauty of Bolesławiec’s revitalized planty and parks, uncover the charm of the picturesque gardens of the palace in Hainewalde, and present the original concept behind the grounds in Herrnhut. Thanks to the photographers’ attentive observations, these and other places are discovered anew. We therefore encourage you to explore the beauty of the parks and gardens of the Polish-German border region.
The project “The Architecture of Urban Greenery in the Cross-Border Area Through the Lens” is co-financed by the European Union under the European Regional Development Fund and by state budget funds, with the support of Euroregion Neisse.
