Almost a month and a half has passed since we published an article about dirty county roads. Instead of simply cleaning them up quickly, officials issued a statement claiming that other places were dirty too and accusing us of bias. It even went so far that they wanted to publish their “explanations” in our newspaper using public funds, but we refused.
According to the county office, the roads were supposed to be cleaned by May 15. Unfortunately, they are still very dirty in various places. Some streets, such as Śluzowa and Karola Miarki, have been tidied up. But others, such as Gdańska and Mostowa, have had sand and dirt lying on them for a long time. The area right next to the county office building also leaves much to be desired.
We do not expect Starosta Kwaśniewski to take a broom and sweep even part of a street instead of going to theater events. We hope he will discipline his employees. Although some of them maliciously say that the starosta is “soft.” And perhaps there is something to it, because summer is approaching and some roads still have not been cleaned. Despite the promises.
