On Saturday, 22 March, the fifth edition of the nationwide BiegamBoLubię campaign began in 80 Polish cities. This year, Bolesławiec joined the campaign. Twenty-two people decided to take part in classes led by experienced MKS Bolesłavia coaches and athletes Dariusz Łomański and Bartosz Gruman.

Bartosz Gruman: – Every Saturday at 9:30 a.m. free classes are held at the stadiums of 80 Polish towns for everyone interested – both those who are just beginning their running journey and those who have already taken their first steps. The aim of the BiegamBoLubię campaign is to show that running is a sport accessible to everyone, a source of joy and an excellent mood booster thanks to the release of endorphins (the happiness hormones), as well as a great idea for spending free time with the family.

As the organizers emphasize, the campaign is aimed at a broad range of people, without any restrictions, and especially at entire families. During the first class, participants learned the principles of stretching different muscle groups and performed several running exercises.

Dariusz Łomański: – We treat our meetings as fun. No one forces anyone to do strenuous training, because that is not the aim of this campaign. In addition to recreational running, we will place great emphasis on proper stretching. It is a very important element of running, but unfortunately it is often neglected or performed incorrectly. In addition, everyone will have the opportunity to exercise with medicine balls and over hurdles. We also offer our knowledge and experience concerning the principles of proper nutrition and the selection of sports equipment.

The organizers assure participants that they will help them improve their personal records or take part in their first race. It is possible to prepare a training plan depending on one’s athletic level and the time available for training. – However, we emphasize that we invite everyone who is just beginning their running journey or wants to lose a few excess kilograms to the classes – the coaches say.

In May, a nationwide Cooper Test will be held, to which Dariusz Łomański and Bartosz Gruman are already inviting participants. The organizers also invite all those who, for various reasons, cannot attend the Saturday classes or want to take part more often than once a week on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m.. It is possible to establish a second regular class time during the week. However, this will depend on the number of interested people and the participants’ availability. – We are waiting for suggestions – say the organizers of the initiative.
