The first festival was held at Gimnazjum Samorządowe nr 3 in June 2003 and involved presenting student projects. Since then, each successive festival has been announced under a different theme: the culture of Greece and Rome, literary periods, my passions, my interests, I am a European and a citizen of the world, candidates for patrons, and the school’s patron Jan Paweł II.

Projects, posters, games, workshops, demonstrations, performances and interesting meetings are prepared in line with the festival’s theme. The entire school (classrooms, school corridors, the gymnasium and the assembly hall) is transformed into a center of science, art and recreation.

The Science and Art Festival planned for March 21, 2014 has a very rich program. There will be presentations of student projects: “Cosmic Physics,” “The King Is Dead? No—Long Live the King! Czesław Niemen,” the mythology competition “Chariot Race,” “The Cuisine of German- and English-Speaking Countries,” “I Know What I Eat. Healthy Food,” “Netaktywni”—activities in the computer lab, “Let’s Have Fun with English”—activities in the language classroom, and “Out-of-this-World Chemistry,” meaning chemical experiments conducted by students.

The following exhibitions have also been planned: “10 Years of Poland in the European Union” and “Photography—My Passion.” Grażyna Hanaf has been invited to meet with students and give a talk entitled “Traveller, Tour Guide—The Profession of My Life,” as has Paweł Śliwko, who will also present an exhibition of his paintings.

Additional workshops, games and activities will be organized: “Everyone Can Sing—Have Fun with Karaoke,” origami workshops, XXL-sized soap bubbles, mathematics embroidered with thread, “A Geometric Whirlwind”—a tour of giant geometric solids, Planet European Union, basket weaving from paper wicker, and a basketball match between students and teachers.
