At the beginning of March, club members will watch the Coen brothers’ latest film, “Inside Llewyn Davis”. The film won the Grand Prix at the 66th Cannes Film Festival.
The following Monday, the film “More Than Honey” will be presented, the sixth film in the career of Swiss director Marcus Imhoof. It is an interesting example of a nature film essay, showing the world of bees and the way they function.
Another offering is “The Great Beauty”, a gripping, poetic film that evokes the spirit of Fellini’s work. It won the European Film Award for Best Film and the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film. Before the screening, art historian Grażyna Hanaf will give a short talk on beauty and nostalgia: “What beauty do we long for?”.
On the penultimate Monday of the month, “Dallas Buyers Club” will be screened—a humorous story inspired by true events about a man who has no intention of saying goodbye to life. The film was nominated for this year’s Oscars in six categories.
To conclude the film month, the second part of the long-awaited film by Danish director, provocateur and provocateur Lars von Trier, “Nymphomaniac: Vol. II”, will be shown.
