The exhibition presents the diverse landscape, with beautiful towns on both sides of the border. It also depicts the profound transformations of the landscape resulting from the operation of lignite open-pit mines, as well as the places created through the revitalization of former mining areas.
The majority of the photographs were taken by the renowned photographer Peter Radke from Hoyerswerda. Other aerial photographs used in the exhibition come from Polish and German photographers, as well as from Polish and German municipalities in the borderland. The exhibition at the BOK-MC gallery will be open from 7 to 28 February 2014.
The exhibition “Borderland from a Bird’s-Eye View” was created as part of the “Together for the Silesia–Saxony Borderland” project. The project partners are the Marshal’s Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship and the Saxon State Ministry of the Interior. The project is co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund under the Poland–Saxony 2007–2013 Operational Programme for Cross-Border Cooperation.
