The incident took place on the night of January 30–31 on Daszyńskiego Street. Carbon monoxide was leaking there. The most seriously poisoned was a 24-year-old man, Łukasz Ludwikowski, known to many residents of Bolesławiec. When firefighters arrived at the scene, the man was being resuscitated. Unfortunately, the victim died.
Three people living in the premises evacuated themselves. Firefighters evacuated two people from another apartment. They administered pure oxygen to those suffering from poisoning.
Four victims were taken to hospital (one of the evacuated people refused hospitalization).
Bolesławiec firefighters suspect that the tragedy was caused by a damaged gas heater.
Łukasz Ludwikowski – an outstanding photographer, bassist for the band Poeticon, and a volunteer involved in many charitable initiatives (including the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity). He collaborated with the Via Sudetica association and was involved in Gliniada.
