On Wednesday, December 18, the Handball Tournament for the Cup of the Director of the Adam Mickiewicz Lower Secondary School in Nowogrodziec was held at the sports hall in Nowogrodziec. The invited schools participating in the tournament were: II General Secondary School in Bolesławiec (coach Piotr Napiórkowski), Mechanical Schools Complex in Bolesławiec (coach Kamil Dudak), Lower Secondary School in Ruszów (coach Robert Grzelakowski), Lower Secondary School No. 2 in Zgorzelec (coach Łukasz Kubala), and Lower Secondary School in Nowogrodziec (coach Dariusz Marek).
The teams were divided into two groups of three, in which each team played every other team. The group winners played for places I–II, the second-placed teams played for places III–IV, and the third-placed teams played for places V–VI. The draw produced the following groups, with the following results: Group A – 1st place, Mechanical Schools Complex from Bolesławiec, 4 points, goal difference 39–10. 2nd place, Lower Secondary School No. 2 from Zgorzelec, 2 points, 13–24. 3rd place, Lower Secondary School Nowogrodziec II, 0 points, 9–27. Group B – 1st place, II General Secondary School in Bolesławiec, 4 points, 33–8. 2nd place, Lower Secondary School Nowogrodziec I, 2 points, 18–23. 3rd place, Lower Secondary School in Ruszów, 0 points, 9–29.
The match for places V–VI was played by the teams from the Lower Secondary School in Ruszów and Lower Secondary School Nowogrodziec II. After a hard-fought match, including one period of extra time, the combative Lower Secondary School from Ruszów won 11–10. The match for places III–IV brought together the teams from Lower Secondary School No. 2 in Zgorzelec and Lower Secondary School Nowogrodziec I. After an exciting match, Nowogrodziec I won 13–10. The final was played by the secondary schools, where we could watch our former students. II General Secondary School in Bolesławiec lost to the Mechanical Schools Complex in Bolesławiec 8–13.

All schools received diplomas, while the winning school was presented with a cup funded by Mr Józef Rosa, Director of the Adam Mickiewicz Lower Secondary School in Nowogrodziec. The players received awards in the following categories:

- “best playmaker” – Michał Nowak (ZSM Bolesławiec)
- “best goalkeeper” – Michał Rosa (GM Nowogrodziec)
- “best defender” – Dawid Kopała (II LO Bolesławiec)

The tournament provided an opportunity to compare the skills of our handball players and to make new acquaintances with students from Ruszów, Zgorzelec and Bolesławiec. It should be emphasized that the idea for the competition was inspired by graduates of our Lower Secondary School, who are now students at the secondary schools participating in the tournament.
