17 December 2013, at 4:00 p.m. the Museum of Ceramics’ Department of the History of the City, at 14 M. Kutuzowa Street in Bolesławiec, will host the ceremonial promotion of the publication “1813–2013. The Bicentenary of the Napoleonic Campaign in Silesia”.

The book contains expanded and supplemented papers delivered at an international academic conference devoted to the Napoleonic era, held in Bolesławiec on 6 September 2013. Among the published, exceptionally interesting articles are texts by Polish scholars from Wrocław and Toruń, German scholars from Königswinter and Heidelberg, and Russian scholars from Sankt Petersburg and Smolensk.

A lecture and presentation by Prof. Jerzy Maroń entitled “The Napoleonic Wars in the Eyes of Historians and Theoreticians” will introduce all those interested to Napoleonic history, while the publication itself will be presented by Prof. Grzegorz Strauchold.

The meeting will also include the ceremonial announcement of the results and presentation of awards in the 7th edition of the competition for the Bolesławiec mayor’s prize for the best master’s or doctoral thesis on the history and contemporary life of the city of Bolesławiec, defended in the 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 academic years at all public and non-public universities in Poland and abroad.
