The opening of the exhibition “Structures of the Body Painted with Fire” will take place on Thursday, 5 December, at 2:00 p.m. in the exhibition hall of Sparkasse Oberlausitz-Niederschlesien at Frauenstr. 21.

The exhibition is the result of cooperation between the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre–International Ceramics Centre and Sparkasse Oberlausitz-Niederschlesien.

Mateusz Grobelny was the curator of this year’s 49th International Ceramic and Sculpture Open-Air Workshop in Bolesławiec. He is known to the residents of Bolesławiec primarily for the spectacular outdoor kilns built during the Bolesławiec Ceramic Festival.

The artist’s works presented at the exhibition in Zittau were made using slip-casting technology in plaster moulds. They are fired in various wood-fired kiln structures as well as in gas kilns. After firing, the artist often combines ceramics with metal or stone, giving the figures a new and surprising meaning.
