The exhibition by Bolesławiec photographers “In the Afterimage of Dreams” features photographs of five amateur models. The women posed in contemporary interiors wearing dresses borrowed from the theatre in Legnica. Among other venues, the photographs were shown at the Bolesławiec City Center Gallery.

Bożena Gałan and Mirek Putyra thanked many people at the opening for helping them carry out their original project. They received assistance from the director of the Youth Cultural Centre, the Bolesławiec City Center Gallery and Mirosław Sakowski, the director of II Liceum Ogólnokształcące.

“What was exceptional for us was that when we asked for help, we received it without unnecessary questions about who we were,” Mirek Putyra said at the opening. “The only thing that mattered was that we had something valuable and interesting to offer.”

Five beautiful women posed for the photographs: Elżbieta Tor, Katarzyna Sas, Alicja Kowal, Maria Walczewska and Róża Urbanik. Each created her own character. Elżbieta Tor was cool and elegant. She looked excellent in semi-nudes, in cool, empty interiors. Katarzyna Sas has several excellent portraits styled after the 1920s and one intriguing nude with a stained-glass window. Maria Walczewska poses for reflective photographs symbolizing women’s desire to cross the boundary of everyday life and immerse themselves in the world of dreams.

Photographs of Róża Urbanik radiate strength, femininity and power. The model is a definite discovery. Her portraits are reflective and emotionally rich—among the best in the exhibition.

Bożena Gałan very much wanted to show in her photography the world of women’s desires, dreams and escape from reality. In many cases, she conveyed it brilliantly.

As promised by the school’s director, the exhibition will be expanded. Next year, on 8 March, we will be able to see more photographs by Mirek Putyra and Bożena Gałan.
