Our Readers drew attention to two issues related to cable television. The first is the fact that the channels popular with older residents of Bolesławiec—the Russian RTR and Serbian RTS—disappeared from the offer and, following viewers’ protests, returned to it, but only in digital form. The problem is that some people—such reports have reached us—who watch these channels do not have suitable televisions for receiving these programmes and cannot afford to replace their sets.

The second issue is the number of programmes. One Reader wrote in an email to the editorial office: “I would like you to publicise the matter of our cable TV service. I pay 48 zlotys for it and—instead of having more channels—the cable service keeps reducing them. There were 60 channels, then it became 58, now it has fallen again from 58 to 54, and from 54 to 53 and 52. Why is the price of cable TV not going down, but the number of channels? Soon there will be 40.”

We asked for comment on both matters by email (the technical manager told us in a telephone conversation that he was not authorised to provide information and referred us to the president). We sent the questions on 29 October. So far, we have received no response.
