Photographs are being presented in three locations in Bolesławiec. Since yesterday, photographs from Paris have been on display at Forum Cinema. In November, photographs from Morocco will be exhibited at the II General Secondary School, while at the exhibition in the Agora bookstore in the Market Square, “Joachim” in Venice will be presented by a gnome-gondolier.
Taking “Joachim” with her on her travels, the author put a little bit of home into her suitcase along with the book: Rajska Street, where she spent her childhood; the viaduct under which she passes every day on her way home; the boulevard along the Bóbr River, where she walks; the Market Square; and many other places close to her heart.
“I often travel as a tour leader and I always read while traveling,” says Grażyna Hanaf. “When reading on the road, you travel twice: in your imagination and in reality. I have always been intrigued by the mixing of literary characters’ adventures with the adventures of the person reading, and by the interpenetration of the real and unreal worlds. When I read my book in Paris or Venice, I discovered that wherever I was, ‘Joachim’ always took me back to Bolesławiec. A resident of Bolesławiec will reach home with it even from the other side of the world,” the writer adds.
The photography exhibition is also a promotion of the book—a way to present it originally. “In the age of Facebook, creators promote themselves in various creative ways,” says our journalist. “This exhibition is my idea for promotion. It can travel with me around Poland to meetings with readers.”
On the “Joachim” fan page, photographs from the exhibition and the stories connected with them will be published. On Grażyna Hanaf’s website, you can find all the information and reviews of the book “Joachim.”
The project’s partner is Bolesławiecki Ośrodek Kultury-Międzynarodowe Centrum Ceramiki. The author thanks Mirosław Sakowski, head of the II General Secondary School, for making the school gallery available, as well as Józefina and Marek Witas, owners of the Agora bookstore.
The newspaper and portal “Istotne Informacje” are the media patrons of the exhibition.
