The accident occurred during the night of October 14–15 at Custo Pol S.A. in Wykroty. At around 3:00 a.m., a 19-year-old employee operating an injection-moulding machine had his hand crushed. The limb was amputated up to the elbow.

As Mirosław Kocuba, head of the Jelenia Góra State Labour Inspectorate, told us, a Labour Inspectorate inspector is currently determining the causes of the incident. It was initially determined that the machine guard was inadequate. “At this stage, however, it is difficult to draw conclusions,” Mirosław Kocuba emphasises. “We must gather evidence, investigate the causes of this accident and issue a decision so that such a tragedy does not happen again in the future.”

We also contacted Małgorzatą Fidali from Custo Pol S.A., who told us that she was not authorised to provide information about the accident. The company’s head can provide it when he returns from China, that is, at the beginning of November.

We will return to the matter.
