On Thursday (September 19), around noon, an exotic animal that looked like a scorpion was spotted in one of the wards of the psychiatric hospital in Bolesławiec. Fifty patients and staff from the building where the unwelcome guest appeared were evacuated to other hospital wards, while the arthropod was sent to the Wrocław Zoo for analysis.

It turned out that the unwelcome guest at the Bolesławiec hospital was an emperor scorpion. The young arachnid, belonging to the gentlest and commonly kept scorpion species, was either brought there by someone or arrived at the hospital with a shipment of citrus fruit.

On Friday (September 20), the ward where the scorpion was found will undergo pest control. The patients will return to their ward no earlier than Saturday.
