The exhibition was prepared by the Museum of Ceramics based on its own collections, as well as a number of valuable and interesting objects loaned from other museums in Poland, Russia and Germany and from numerous private collections. Alongside weapons and uniforms from the period’s armies, works of art have been presented—paintings, prints and figurines commemorating the most important figures and events of that time.
Original documents, coins and material-culture objects are also on display. The most valuable exhibits include the monumental painting “Bivouac on the Berezina” by Wojciech Kossak, loaned from the Museum of Opole Silesia in Opole, and a hand-embroidered portfolio—Emperor Napoleon’s briefcase—from the Museum of Romanticism in Opinogóra. Also noteworthy is a collection of objects commemorating the centenary of the 1813 campaign, from the collections of Schlesisches Museum zu Görlitz.
The exhibition will be presented until mid-October.
It is also worth recalling what the historical performance “The Battle of Bolesławiec 1813” looked like, held on 7 September on the bank of the Bóbr River, by the viaduct.
