On Wednesday, September 11, BKS played an away match in the second round of the Regional Polish Cup. The Bolesławiec team’s opponents were Włókniarz Leśna – a newcomer and, at the same time, leaders of the Jelenia Góra regional league. As early as the 2nd minute, the hosts had a chance to take the lead, but BKS goalkeeper Manuel Kowalski confidently saved a free kick. Apart from that set piece, little happened on the pitch during the opening 15 minutes. Most of the play took place in the middle of the field. BKS had more possession and, in the 18th minute, Emmanuel Ohagwu came close to opening the scoring. Unfortunately, the Nigerian forward’s shot went just wide.

In the following stages of the match, the hosts could speak of extraordinary luck, while the visitors had extraordinary bad luck. In the 24th minute, after Paweł Glac’s shot, the ball hit the post, while a minute later Zbigniew Mastalerz narrowly missed. In the 27th minute, a Leśna player cleared Łukasz Mikołajczyk’s shot off the goal line. BKS’s missed chances “came back to haunt them” in the 34th minute. After the popular “Manu” lost the ball, the hosts launched a counterattack and Krzysztof Pieśkiewicz put the ball into the Bolesławiec goal. The goal delighted most of the fans, and an upset seemed possible in Leśna, especially as it was the home side’s only attack in this part of the game. Conceding a goal spurred the fourth-tier side on, but the Włókniarz goal remained enchanted for the Bolesławiec players. In the 38th minute, Piotr Dzięgleski shot at the hosts’ goal, but the ball bounced off the post. In the 45th minute, Zbigniew Mastalerz beat two Włókniarz players and… hit the crossbar.

After the break, BKS remained the attacking and dominant side. The equalizer came in the 52nd minute, when Emmanuel Ohagwu used Michał Błoński’s throw-in to make it 1–1. Shortly afterwards, the visitors could have made it 2–1, but Piotr Dzięgleski hit the crossbar this time. In the 63rd minute, the hosts began to threaten, but Manuel Kowalski made a brilliant save and the score remained 1–1. In the 71st minute, Piotr Dzięgleski was replaced by Daniel Ziółkowski, and in the 78th minute the substitute beat two home players and put BKS ahead with a shot under the crossbar. In the 87th minute, Emmanuel Ohagwu was replaced by Mariusz Wakulski, and once again the substitution resulted in a goal for Bolesławiec. In stoppage time, this time following a BKS counterattack, Mariusz set the final score at 3–1. BKS defeated Włókniarz Leśna and advanced to the third round of the Regional Polish Cup.

While the result is pleasing, the style in which the Bolesławiec team defeated the regional league leaders leaves much to be desired. This is not about motivation or willingness to play, as there was no shortage of either. The defensive formation performed poorly in the match. Despite their dominance, BKS took a long time to make use of their scoring opportunities, even though they created them practically every few minutes. They also lacked a playmaker to direct the game (Paweł Żmudziński did not play). There were many turnovers and inaccuracies, as well as nervousness and disjointed play. However, no one can deny that the better team advanced to the next round of the cup competition.
