On the occasion of the 74th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II, tribute was paid at the monument to the soldiers of the Second Army of the Polish Army to those who fought in defense of our homeland. “Let us remember that World War II was the greatest armed conflict in the history of the world,” said starost Cezary Przybylski during the ceremony. “The toll of this wave of violence can be understood by coming into direct contact with personal tragedies. I am referring to my recent visit to Volhynia, which provided me with both many moving experiences and much food for thought. Little is written about this crime. Even less is said about it. Its perpetrators were neither Germans nor Russians, and so it was all the easier for the native elites to keep silent about it. Yet the deaths of at least 120,000 Poles murdered in Volhynia and Galicia still cry out to be remembered.

One of the most important elements of the ceremony was the laying of flowers at the monument to the soldiers of the Second Army of the Polish Army. Flowers were laid, among others, by delegations of veterans, Siberian exiles, uniformed services and local government officials.
