After the lovestruck Rome and the romantic, Oscar-winning thrills in Paris, Woody Allen returns to his native America. The plot of his latest comedy, “Blue Jasmine,” is the story of a New York resident whose orderly life is completely transformed by a forced move to San Francisco.
As usual in Allen’s films, an impressive star-studded cast came together on set. Alongside Oscar and two Golden Globe winner Cate Blanchett (“The Aviator”) are, among others, three-time Golden Globe nominee and one-time Oscar nominee Alec Baldwin (“It’s Complicated”); Golden Globe winner Sally Hawkins (“Happy-Go-Lucky”); two-time Emmy winner Michael Emerson, known from the series “Lost”; Peter Sarsgaard (“An Education,” “The Killing”); Alden Ehrenreich (“Tetro”); and America’s favorite, the brilliant comedian, producer and screenwriter Louis C.K.
The film is receiving excellent reviews. Its artistic success is matched by commercial success, and not only in the director’s homeland. According to Stopklatka.pl, in Poland “Blue Jasmine” has already been seen by more than 77,000 viewers, ranking first at the domestic box office.
