The garden gnome, which until recently sorted unusual rubbish, is now promoting the Blues nad Bobrem Festival. At the Agora bookshop exhibition in the Market Square, visitors can see the gnome wearing a black T-shirt to look more blues-like. At the exhibition, the gnome is striking a chord on a handmade guitar. The guitar and the small drum displayed beside it were borrowed from a branch of Municipal Public Kindergarten No. 3. The instruments were made last year for the V Preschool Song and Dance Festival.

Grandma Róża’s garden gnome is a character from Grażyna Hanaf’s novel “Joachim”. In the novel, the gnome standing in the garden on Rajska Street closely observed the lives of the neighbours. In the window of the Agora bookshop, the gnome recommends or comments on various events from the life of Bolesławiec or the country. On Grażyna Hanaf’s website, you can find all information and reviews of the book “Joachim”

In August, three large bookshop exhibitions are devoted to the Blues nad Bobrem Festival. Good music workshops and excellent blues concerts began on 5 August at Kliczków Castle. This year’s central theme is Tadeusz Nalepa.

Almost 150 young musicians from all over Poland will study in eight classes: guitar, bass guitar, acoustic guitar, harmonica, keyboards, percussion, vocals and ensemble playing.

All festival concerts will be dedicated to the memory of Tadeusz Nalepa, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of his birth.

  • On 10 August, the Blues Band Showcase and concerts by JJ.Band and Zdrowa Woda are scheduled
  • On 14 August, Cheap Tabacco, After Blues and Piotr Nalepa Breakout Tour will perform

This year, the festival is accompanied by a photography exhibition by Marek Karewicz, who specialised in photographs of jazz and rock stars. Among other things, he photographed Miles Davis’s last concert tour and Ray Charles’s European concert tour. He is the author of approximately 1,500 album covers, including covers for albums by Ewa Demarczyk, Niebiesko-Czarni, Czerwone Gitary, Irena Santor, Sława Przybylska, Maryla Rodowicz, Stan Borys and Jerzy Połomski.
