There is a place in Bolesławiec’s market square that everyone associates with books. It is located on the ground floor of a beautiful, historic tenement house. Since 1990, Agora Bookshop owned by Józefina and Marek Witas, operated at this location. For the past three years, the bookshop was run by Książnica Polska.
Earlier, in the post-war period, the Wrocławski Dom Książki bookshop operated here. However, the beginnings of book sales at this location date back to 1827. At that time, Karol Fryderyk Appun established one of the first bookshops in what was then Bunzlau. The Appun publishing house also operated here, specializing in publishing books on medical subjects.
Books will remain at this location
Despite the closure of Agora Bookshop, there is a chance that books will not disappear from this historic location. A food-service establishment is expected to open here soon, where... it will still be possible to read books.
