The exercise took place on 25 July. Here is its abbreviated scenario:
The situation in the area of responsibility of the Polish Military Contingent began to escalate, leading to an outbreak of discontent that local politicians directed against KFOR forces [Kosovo Force – przyp „ii”].
Despite attempts by the base commander to negotiate, tensions among the protesters increased and turned into riots aimed at acts of violence against PKW KFOR soldiers [...]. Stones were thrown, while the crowd shouted hostile slogans and called for the base entrance to be set on fire. An alarm was issued for the quick reaction forces (QRF) to reinforce the protection of the base, as well as for all personnel, who began implementing Force Protection procedures.
The active response of the QRF forces, supported by an armoured vehicle, ended with the aggressive crowd being driven away from the base area, preventing a direct attack on the personnel and the base installation.
The Polish Military Contingent KFOR in Kosovo is carrying out a stabilisation mission and forms part of the Multinational Battle Group – East. As part of its operational activities, the Polish contingent performs tasks involving monitoring compliance with international agreements and treaties in order to create conditions for safe living and the normalisation of the situation in its area of responsibility.
The core of the new, 28th rotation of PKW in Kosovo consists of soldiers from the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment from Bolesławiec—the unit responsible for forming and preparing the contingent—as well as the Special Branch of the Military Police from Mińsk Mazowiecki and the 1st Storage Battalion from Olsztyn, belonging to the 1st Logistics Brigade.
