The handover of duties for the position of senior national officer at the Headquarters of the Kosovo Force (KFOR) took place in Kosovo. In the presence of numerous staff officers, Colonel Zygmunt Malec handed over his duties to Col. Andrzej Lorenc.

The ceremony was attended, among others, by KFOR commander General Halbauer, KFOR Chief of Staff General Aycock, the colonels’ direct superior General Carta, senior national officers of contingents from other member states, as well as the command of the Polish Eulex special police unit, headed by Inspector Cezary Luba, and the 28th rotation of the Polish Military Contingent, headed by Lieutenant Colonel Remigiusz Zieliński.

General Halbauer thanked the departing officer for their joint service and wished the new officer success in carrying out the tasks entrusted to him.


The Polish Military Contingent KFOR in Kosovo carries out a stabilization mission and forms part of the Multinational Battle Group – East. As part of its operational activities, the Polish contingent performs tasks involving monitoring compliance with international agreements and treaties in order to create conditions for safe living and the normalization of the situation in its area of responsibility.

The core of the new, 28th rotation of the Polish Military Contingent in Kosovo consists of soldiers from the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment in Bolesławiec—the unit responsible for forming and preparing the contingent—as well as the Special Branch of the Military Gendarmerie from Mińsk Mazowiecki and the 1st Storage Battalion from Olsztyn, part of the 1st Logistic Brigade.
