Polish personnel from the Liaison and Monitoring Teams (LMT-6 and LMT-8), together with representatives of the Italian CIMIC (civil-military cooperation), organized a charity initiative for poor families in the municipalities of Kacanik and Hani i Elezit.
Donations, including furniture, food, school supplies and hygiene products, were given to two families. Participants in the initiative included the commander of the MSU (Multinational Specialized Unit), to which CIMIC reports, Colonel Mario Di Iulio, and representatives of the non-governmental organization with which the LMT teams regularly cooperate on such initiatives.
The collection currently being held throughout Poland for school supplies and winter clothing for the families most in need in Kosovo is a response to an appeal by Polish soldiers, who have been involved in humanitarian aid in their area of responsibility since May this year.
The Polish KFOR Military Contingent in Kosovo is carrying out a stabilization mission and is part of the Multinational Battle Group – East. As part of its operational activities, the Polish contingent performs tasks involving monitoring compliance with international agreements and treaties in order to create conditions for safe coexistence and the normalization of the situation in its area of responsibility.
The core of the new, 28th rotation of the Polish Military Contingent in Kosovo consists of soldiers from the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment in Bolesławiec—the unit responsible for forming and preparing the contingent—as well as the Special Unit of the Military Police from Mińsk Mazowiecki and the 1st Storage Battalion from Olsztyn, belonging to the 1st Logistics Brigade.
