In April, we reported that ten students from the Janusz Korczak II General Secondary School in Bolesławiec took part in the nationwide English Ace 2013 competition, organized by Łowcy Talentów Jersz. – It is a competition with a twenty-year tradition – Anna Sas, an English teacher and co-organizer of the event, told us at the time.Anna Sas, an English teacher and co-organizer of the event.
Nearly 9,000 students took part in the nationwide stage. Kacper Piecyk, a first-year student at II LO, proved to be the best in Lower Silesia (second in Poland), while Katarzyna Sadlak placed eighth in the province and 46th nationwide.
At the end of June, the “second school” received the School of Talent Hunters Certificate, awarded “in recognition of the teachers’ commitment to developing students’ talents and interests, as well as their high achievements in the Nationwide Subject Competitions organized as part of the Nationwide Educational Project Łowimy Talenty 2012/13, carried out by Łowcy Talentów Jersz under the patronage of Wrocław University of Science and Technology.”
It is also worth adding that recruitment to II General Secondary School has ended. After the summer holidays, 157 first-year students will begin their education at the school. – Once again, the best young people have joined us – emphasizes Mirosław Sakowski, the school’s principal. – This is thanks to our teachers. Once again, all our students passed the matura exam, which shows that II LO provides excellent preparation for the secondary-school leaving examination.
What is more, room 113 is currently being renovated; it will house the Interactive Science Centre. In August, construction of an elevator will begin, making II LO accessible to people with disabilities. A bilingual class is also scheduled to open here in the 2014/2015 school year. All classes except Polish will be taught in English. We will return to this matter.
