Renovations of further tenement houses around the market square are underway in Bolesławiec. This is the result of grants for conservation work on buildings entered in the register of historic monuments. The city budget allocated PLN 1,577,000 to co-finance conservation, restoration or construction works.
This year's grants for the renovation of façades, including the replacement of window and door joinery in the common areas of the tenement houses, were awarded to seven homeowners' associations:
- Rynek 33/34
- Rynek 29/30
- Rynek 31/32
- Rynek 24/25
- Rynek 35
- Rynek 26
- Sierpnia '80 1/2.
The renovations are being carried out as part of the “New Old Town” programme, adopted by the City Council in 2006. One stage of the programme is the renovation of tenement houses around the market square, the scope of which has been divided into two parts: renovation of the roof truss and roofing, and renovation of façades, stone details and architectural details, as well as filling in missing sections. Completion by the homeowners' association of the renovation of the roof truss and roofing is a condition for receiving co-financing for the façade renovation.
Grants for conservation work were also awarded to two parishes. The Roman Catholic Parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Nicholas on Kościelna Street received a grant for the project “Emergency renovation of the roof of the Caritas building on Kościelna Street.” Meanwhile, the Roman Catholic Parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help at Zamkowy Square is carrying out this year's project, “Renovation of the tower with replacement of galvanized sheet metal with copper sheet metal.”
