Until September 2013, the Museum of Sport and Tourism in Karpacz is presenting the exhibition “Bolesławiec Ceramics. A Souvenir from Lower Silesia”. The exhibition presents an overview of ceramic production from the 18th to the 21st century, including ribbed jugs and jugs decorated with white appliqués, as well as vessels made at the Royal Vocational School of Ceramics and in Bolesławiec factories at the beginning of the 20th century.

It also presents the most characteristic Bolesławiec ceramics—vessels covered with stamped decoration dating from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries and the beginning of the 20th century. The exhibition is complemented by large-format photographs by Grzegorz Matoryn. They show the most interesting places in Bolesławiec, including the Market Square, the railway viaduct and the monument to Marshal Mikhail Kutuzov.

The opening was attended by Mayor Piotr Roman, director of the Museum of Sport and Tourism in Karpacz Zbigniew Kulik, director of the Museum of Ceramics in Bolesławiec Anna Bober-Tubaj, director of the Museum of Sport and Tourism in Warsaw Tomasz Jagodziński, longtime director of the Museum of Ceramics Teresa Wolanin, and Elżbieta Zakrzewska, a member of the Programme Council of the Museum of Sport and Tourism in Karpacz. The event was held under the patronage of the Chair of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Assembly and the Mayor of Bolesławiec.

Meanwhile, the Museum of the Opole Countryside in Opole is presenting the exhibition “The Charm of Old Stoneware” until October 2013. The exhibition mainly features utilitarian vessels. A special place is given to household pots covered with brown earthen glaze, as well as milk jugs, jugs, bottles, butter containers and bread containers decorated with stamps.

Ceramics covered with stamped decoration presents Bolesławiec production from the earliest 19th-century examples to contemporary tableware. The exhibition also features famous 18th-century ribbed jugs and jugs decorated with appliqués.

The Silesian Museum in Görlitz is presenting the exhibition “Bolesławiec Ceramics: Beginnings + Modernity” until the end of October. It is a compilation of two exhibitions previously presented at the Museum of Ceramics: “At the Sources of Bolesławiec Ceramics” and “Bolesławiec Ceramics on the Road to Modernity”.

The opening of the exhibition, held on 12 July, was attended by: Piotr Roman; Prof. Konrad Vanja, longtime director of the Museum of European Cultures in Berlin; director of the Silesian Museum in Görlitz, Dr Marcus Bauer; Anna Bober-Tubaj; chair of Bundesheimatgruppe Bunzlau Peter Börner; Teresa Wolanin; Alicja and Zygmunt Brusiłowie; as well as collectors: Jan Leon Stasiak, Stanisław Czerniawski, Tomasz Czerniawski, Andrzej Kaziuk, Izabela and Marek Olszowy, and Andrzej Prusiecki.

The exhibition presents the greatest archaeological discovery in Bolesławiec of the past 120 years: a unique collection of richly decorated vessels known as the Bolesławiec Treasure, acquired with financial support from companies operating in the city and county, as well as ceramic exhibits produced in Bolesławiec factories and at the Vocational School of Ceramics in the first half of the 20th century. Following exhibitions in Berlin in 1986 and Nuremberg in 2004, this is the largest exhibition of Bolesławiec ceramics in Europe.
