At the beginning of July, we reported that Łukasz Kubot, who comes from our city, defeated Frenchman Adrian Mannarino at the Grand Slam tournament and—for the first time in his career!—advanced to the quarterfinals, where he would face another Pole—Jerzy Janowicz.

The match between the two Polish tennis players took place on Wednesday, July 3. Jerzy Janowicz proved the better player, defeating his opponent after an exciting battle in three sets—7:5, 6:4, 6:4. It is worth emphasizing, however, that for the first time in history, a Polish player will compete in the Wimbledon semifinals. We are keeping our fingers crossed for the Łódź native.
