The “dkfbok” Film Discussion Club invites audiences to Forum Cinema every Monday at 19:00. For the summer evenings in July, it offers powerful cinema, classics and drama. The meetings are organised with the support of the Polish Film Institute.
On Monday, 22 July, club members will watch “City Lights” (Polish: “Światła wielkiego miasta”), an American romantic comedy from 1931. The film is black-and-white and silent. Charles Chaplin himself was responsible for its direction, music, production and screenplay, and also played the leading character. It was Chaplin’s first film in the sound era. The film was included on the list of the “100 Greatest Films in Cinema History”, published in 2005 by The Times magazine.
