The University of the Third Age (UTW), which has operated in Bolesławiec for years, is enormously important to the city and to Bolesławiec’s seniors. The talents awakened in women who, after their years of professional activity, were able to flourish during their later studies in retirement are evidence of this.
– I have been following the progress of the UTW artists for a long time – said Magda Konieczna, an artist and instructor in the studios of the Community Centre and BOK-MCC, at the opening. Magda Konieczna– The “Time of Color” exhibition shows the women’s enormous progress. The works are mature, interesting and valuable. I am pleased that drawings have also appeared. They are very good – Konieczna added.
The drawings really do attract attention at the exhibition. They catch the eye and intrigue with subjects such as Danuta Satoła’s zebra-man with an injured tail, Łucja Mielczarek’s mature mermaid and a portrait by Wioletta Nowakowska.
The other works are equally good and interesting. The women prepared the exhibition thematically. Their works were also a form of workshop intended to hone the amateurs’ skills.
– My students were supposed to make copies of a selected painting – said Katarzyna Sas at the opening. Katarzyna Sas– It was a difficult task, but my artists rose to it with enormous talent. They are truly exceptional, wonderfully individualistic women. I am proud of you – added the moved instructor, who works with the students daily.
The exhibition includes copies of paintings by Picasso, Modigliani, Klimt, Malczewski, van Gogh and Renoir. It is a truly colorful exhibition and worth visiting before a screening at Forum cinema.
During the opening, the Długa Gallery at BOK-MCC was filled to capacity. Among the residents and invited guests present at the opening were representatives of the city authorities: Mayor Piotr Roman, Deputy Mayor Kornel Filipowicz, the mayor’s spokesperson Agnieszka Gergont, and Dr Zygmunt Bobowski, plenipotentiary of the Rector of the Wrocław University of Economics for the University of the Third Age.
Friends of the university were also present at the opening – representatives of the Bolesławiec Forest District, which has supported the seniors’ activities for many years: Władysław Nowak, Władysław Nowak, Arkadiusz Suduł, Sergiusz Rzatkiewa and Sergiusz Rzatkiewa as well as Anna Makieska.
The opening was hosted by BOK-MCC Director Ewa Lijewska-Małachowska and UTW President Wiesława Olczyk. Ewa Lijewska-Małachowska Wiesława OlczykDuring the opening, the friendly atmosphere included thanks, congratulations, good wishes and flowers.
