On Tuesday, May 21, the final of this year’s District Art Knowledge Tournament was held. It was attended by 26 primary school students and 20 middle school students selected in school-level preliminaries. In the first stage, tournament participants took a test on art knowledge; in the second, they demonstrated their ability to recognize works of art from photographs.
In the primary school category, the winner was Julia Suchecka from the primary school in Kruszyn. Second place was shared by Kamila Zamojska from the primary school in Nowogrodziec and Małgorzata Olszowy from the primary school in Trzebień. The next places went to: Bartosz Tarnowski from Primary School No. 4 in Bolesławiec (third place), Aleksandra Kłodnicka from Primary School No. 1 in Bolesławiec (fourth place), and Łukasz Sawicki from Primary School No. 2 in Bolesławiec (fifth place). Among the middle school students, the winner was Karolina Domańska from Municipal Middle School No. 3 in Bolesławiec. The next places were won by students of Municipal Middle School No. 1 in Bolesławiec: Dariusz Gołębiewski (second place) and Klaudia Dzedzej (third place). The group of laureates also included Katarzyna Bieszczad from the Middle School in Osiecznica (fourth place) and Ilona Czyżewska from Municipal Middle School No. 3 in Bolesławiec (fifth place).
The tournament is intended for primary and middle school students from Bolesławiec County, and its aim is to open children and young people to art and develop their sensitivity to it. As is traditional, the final was held at the “Zamek Kliczków” Conference and Recreation Centre. Its organizers were the Museum of Ceramics in Bolesławiec, the District Centre for Education and Staff Training, and Municipal Middle School No. 3.
Congratulations to all the laureates. Below, we present our film about the tournament’s patron: Jolanta Ajlikow-Czarnecka. The portrait “It Would Be Art to Be Someone Else” depicts the artist, educator and mentor to many residents of Bolesławiec, who died in 2007.
Jolanta Ajlikow-Czarnecka was an artist, a longtime educator and, above all, a mentor to many well-known residents of Bolesławiec. She was an exceptional person, with her own atmosphere and history, woven into the character of our city. She had her own legend. She used to say that everyone “has such a perception of art as they are capable of,” which is why everyone has the life, everyday reality and space beyond it that they are capable of.
